An Invisibile cloak? it seems that the invisibility cloak on harry potter stories will come true. a japanese scientist make a cool amazing invention by making a transparent cloak with the projection technology, Dr. Susumu Tachi with his projection tech research has made a wearable gadget that he calls as the “transparency cloak”.

The professor at Keio University and University of Toyko has devised a retro reflective projection technology, which uses a sensitive micro-camera and a fabric made of tiny light reflective beads. In demonstrations, a hooded cloak is used and the camera captures the scene behind a wearer. A computer does the “science part” and the scene is projected onto the fabric which from an angle becomes camouflaged in its environment – making the wearer virtually invisible. Lines and folds in the material can still be seen and the image isn’t crystal clear, as viewed by the naked eye, but it’s still the closest the world has got to a true invisibility cloak!

Dr Tachi intends to use the technology to eliminate blind spots in cars and plane cockpits, the sensitive cameras would be affixed to the exterior of the vehicle and the cloaking gear would display what the camera sees increasing the wide field of vision and allowing a driver or pilot to see what was previously un-seeable.

After receiving indictments from a grand jury in Virginia for racketeering conspiracy, conspiracy to commit copyright infringement and other charges on Jan. 5, federal authorities on Thursday arrested four people and executed more than 20 search warrants in the U.S. and eight foreign countries, seizing 18 domain names and an estimated $50 million in assets, including servers run in Virginia and Washington, D.C.

MegaUpload is a "digital locker" that allows users to store files that can then be streamed or downloaded by others. Its subsidiary site MegaVideo became very popular for the unauthorized downloads of movies and TV shows. Users whose uploaded content proved particularly popular were paid for their participation.

The controller attaches to your earlobe with a small metal pad on your forehead to capture signals from brain. The Haier mind-on technology now only runs a few video games on the TV. Haier has teamed up with a firm called NeuroSky to develop the minds-on TV. The technology from NeuroSky enables the accessory to read electrical signals from your head and translate into digital signals. Haier’s Kenji Hinga says the accessory doesn’t read the thoughts of users. It just enables signals from brain to control the TV set.

The Haier mind-on TV will not respond to your brain if you have an anxious mind and sweaty forehead. The company says user should have a relaxed mind and dry forehead to make use of the device. In future, we can see the Haier mind-controlled TV with some more full-fledged features.

Haier is working on to develop the technology further. It will add more features to the Brain Wave TV to grant it an ability to change channels by just thinking about it. Haier now sells the Brain Wave TV in China for a price that is equivalent to roughly $3,000. The company has not exposed when the minds-on TV will land in stores in the U.S. and other markets.

Microsoft 3D Holographic Display a Future Technology

Wow a 3D Holographic Display?? Microsoft Research has conducted a laboratory scale demonstration of a 3D holographic display that can be viewed by multiple people from any angle and does not require the use of special eyeglasses. Unusually for Microsoft, the announcement and the accompanying video contain very few details of the technology or the planned end applications. From the sparse details seen on the video, the display appears to be based on the mirascope, which is a pair of convex mirrors bonded together with an opening at the top on one of them. Images of an object captured by laser photography are projected into the parabolic mirror cavity. With multiple reflections, the light beams get amplified and emerge from the hole to form a 3D hologram in air. This image can be viewed from any angle, you can poke a finger through it and so on. The only details disclosed by Microsoft is that 3000 images per second are projected at a speed of 15 frames per second. The holographic image, as seen from the video, appears small in size and in black and white.

The human eye sees objects by sensing the light reflected from it. The light reflected from different parts of the object vary and the two eyes perceive the reflected light slightly differently, to create a 3D image in the brain. The use of laser light beams on an object enhances differences in the light reflected. This reflection is recorded and played back to create holographic displays.

An early application of holographic displays has been in the advertising holograms used over the night sky at sports stadia and at entertainment venues such as rock concerts. Holographic advertising displays have also been built into point-of-sale terminals in shopping malls and placed in the lobbies of hotels and other public places. In these, the holographic image is projected on a glass or transparent plastic screen.

In recent years, the emergence of higher resolution cameras and faster computer chips has driven the search for higher definition 3D holographic displays. One of the leaders in this field is Zebra Imaging of Austin, Texas. Their ZScape technology was listed among Time magazine's 50 greatest inventions of 2011. The Zebra Imaging technology works with computer aided design software, with laser scan data and satellite images to capture thousands of "Hogel" ( Holographic image) points that are recorded on a film with a laser beam. When this film is viewed using a halogen or LED lamp, a 3D holographic image appears. This technology has been used at project construction sites to plan movement of lifting cranes, in medical imaging and in defense and security applications. Other products in this field include the RePro3D, from Tachi Labs of Japan.

The Microsoft 3D display technology appears to avoid this intermediate step of recording images on a film for playback by directly using computer images to create the holographic image. If the hologram is created as easily as the video clip suggests, it could drive costs down dramatically.

Possible future applications

Given Microsoft's domination of the office suite software, the possible applications of this new technology would be to create 3D moving images in presentations and other office documentation. It could also change the concept of video conferencing by replacing the 2D image of the participants, with a 3D virtual presence. This technology could quickly make its way into portable electronic devices such as music players, smart phones and tablets. Anyone listening to a piece of music may actually be able to project a holographic image of the singer or play the music CD as an image in air in front of him. This technology could also be deployed in the GPS devices used as map displays in cars to project a 3D virtual image of the route in place of a 2D map.

It would be fascinating to see what Microsoft and the others do with this technology in the coming few years.

But Atmos Studio has turned this dream into a real design that synthesizes and blends a beautiful piece of art with architecture. Atmos has tried to create an articulated three-dimensional sky garden, Branching Boroughs, which is a perfect example of the merger of a micro design with a global concept. The project design aims at utilizing the leftover real estate in an urban setting of London and thus offers an exclusive three dimensional creation. By utilizing the underexploited and neglected waste air, a micro sky garden for birds and people has been designed to be constructed above the traffic island.

Branching Boroughs visualizes to reflect London's city structure in a vertical garden displaying a constant regeneration of the life and birth's ecology. SIRI on iPhone4S works as a personal assistant but could you imagine if SIRI can be used to start your car? Brandon Fiquett has made a totally awesome innovation by hacking SIRI to start his car. Yes it's true he can start his own car only with SIRI in his iPhone 4S. You can see on the video below about how he start his car by using SIRI.

Developer Brandon Fiquett has gotten his phone to do just that - hacking Siri on the iPhone 4S to work along with his Viper SmartStart module to not only start his car, but also to arm and disarm the car's alarm, lock and unlock doors, and even pop the vehicle's trunk.

Fiquett was able perform the hack by using Siri Proxy created by another hacker @plamoni, and then running a custom PHP script on his home computer along with some custom plugins to communicate with Siri.

Originally the system was only able to respond to commands such as "Vehicle Arm", "Vehicle Disarm", "Vehicle Start", "Vehicle Stop", "Vehicle Pop Trunk", and "Vehicle Panic," with an update later adding more conversational commands such as "Start my car", "Lock my car", and "Pop my trunk."

The hack is currently in the "proof of concept stage," and isn't something you're likely to be able to replicate unless you really know your way around some code. If you are super tech-savvy, however, Fiquett has published links to the code on his website you can use to recreate the hack with your own phone and vehicle.

This particular hack is the work of just one man, and with Siri only being available a little over a month, it will be interesting to see what other functionality the developer community is able to create over time, as well as what other functionality Apple may add to Siri in the future.

"The fact that we were able to detect this planet so quickly and so nearby tells us that planets like this must be really common," Vogt said. This brings the total number of known planets around this star to six, the most yet discovered in a planetary system outside of our own. Like our solar system, the planets around Gliese 581 have nearlycircular orbits, the team said.

It found that Gliese 581g has a mass three to four time the Earth's and orbits its star in just under 37 days. Its mass indicates that it is probably a rocky planet with a definite surface and enough gravity to hold on to an atmosphere, they said. PTI.

Nokia GEM Concept is a futuristic nokia cellphone concept, what makes it cool was this phone is a full touchscreen on all of it surfaces, but it's a little hard to find the front face or the rear face of this smartphone. The Design and Technology Developers from Nokia released this Nokia GEM concept phone to celebrate Nokia Research Center Anniversary. Surely it's cooler than this Nokia Kinetic.

The illustrations in the video demo describes a woman who was holding and operating the Nokia GEM. Samsung will launch a smartphones with a flexible display screen, They prepare to launch a new line of smart phones and tablets in 2012 that will feature flexible display screens. It seems this cool futuristic concept could became a trends in futuristic smartphone technology, check also the concept of Nokia Flexible Screen here.

The smart phones and tablets concepts will be designed using AMOLED (Active-matrix organic light-emitting diode) technology that is essentially a thin layer of organic compounds which transmit light when an electric current passes through two semiconductors on either side of the layer.

As such, the screens can be folded into a variety of shapes so long as the screen integrity holds.(Check the image on the right) According to sources, the prototype for the flexible display screens has been floating around since around 2010, when Samsung starting showing off a variety of similar concepts, but never claiming to go further than just toying with the idea.

However, back in June of this year, Samsung revealed that they were in the process of preparing phones with these display screens for mass production and market release soon. Samsung intends to launch a line of “clamshell” phones, that will consist of a single large screen able to fold over itself in order to save space, and pack a larger screen onto a smaller device.

AMOLED technology has the advantage of being able to provide an incredibly high refresh rate for the screens. Reponse time for these screens can be under a millisecond. As well they enjoy higher contrast ratios than the average LCD screen.

In the future, they intend to expand on this technology to inscrease the size of displays that it can handle, such as for home televisions, as well as lower the cost. These phones should be on the market in 2012.

The pill will essentially turn sweat into a fragrance that will have its own characteristic for every person, because we are genetically unique.

For this project Lucy teamed-up with synthetic biologist Sheref Mansy, and although swallowable perfume is still in the development skin, the two hope their pill will create a ‘biologically enhanced second skin synthesized directly from the natural processes of the body.’ ”Once absorbed, the capsule enables the skin to become a platform, an atomizer. Fragrance molecules are excreted through the skins surface during perspiration, leaving tiny droplets on the skin that emanate a unique odor,” McCrae says, adding that “thepotency of scent is determined by each individual’s acclimatization to temperature, stress, exercise, or sexual arousal.”

Swallowable Parfum has no scheduled release date yet, but the artist has created a promotional video that describes the perfume pill as a “new cycle of evolution”.

It's far more advanced than the Cadillac User Experience or CUE Entertainment system.

According to Mercedes, @yourCOMAND stands for seamless experience, natural handling, sensory perfection, and remote experience. One of the more far out features is a retractable, computer-monitor sized screen that is mounted on the passenger side of the dash and is controlled solely by hand gestures.

The system is controlled either by voice commands or a touch pad to cycle through the various functions, including social media, news, entertainment, and navigation selections. For rear entertainment, a separate 17-inch retractable screen launches from the passenger side and is controlled by either hand-gestures or voice commands.

So what makes it different with another car infotainment system? when today most media entertainment system that is in the car relies on a Smartphone then @yourCOMAND will depend on cloud computing systems where they will get all the data through all that we store in Cloud Storage.

How Google Autonomous Vehicle works

Google Autonomous vehicle was a cool amazing invention in automotive industry today, This self driving car from Google could became one of the greatest invention this decade, Google's fleet of Toyota Priuses Robotic has now recorded more than 190,000 miles ( 300,000 kilometers ), driving in city traffic, a busy highway, and the mountain road with only occasional human intervention. The project is still far from being commercial, but Google has set up a demonstration system on campus, using a golf cart without a driver, which points to the way how technology can turn into transportation, even in the near future.

Stanford University Professor " Sebastian Thrun ", which guide the project and engineers Google " Chris Urmson " that discusses this and other details in a keynote address at the IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems in San Francisco last month.

Thrun and Urmson explains about how this google autonomous vehicle works and showed a video of the test drive, including footage of what is " seen" on a computer on-board and how to detect other vehicles, pedestrians, and traffic lights.

Urmson, who led the technology for the project, said that "the heart of our system " is a laser range finder mounted on the roof of the car. Apparatuses, a 64- VELODYNE laser beam, producing detailed 3D maps on the environment. The car was then combines laser measurement with high resolution map of the world, producing various types of data models that allow for the drive itself while avoiding obstacles and respecting traffic laws.

Vehicles also carry other sensors, which include: four radar mounted on the front and rear bumpers that allow the car to "see " far enough to be able to deal with fast traffic on the highway, the camera is positioned near the rear -view mirrors that detect traffic lights, and GPS, inertial measurement units and an encoder wheel that determines the location of the vehicle and track its movement.

There's two amazing approach from google autonomous vehicle, First, it relies on very detailed maps of roads and terrain, Urmson says that it is very important to determine accurately in which the car. Using only GPS -based techniques.

The second thing, before sending a self-driving car on the road driving test, Google engineers first drove along the route of one or more than once to collect data about the environment. When the autonomous vehicle 's turn to drive himself, he will compare the data obtained to the data previously recorded, an approach that is useful to distinguish pedestrians from stationary objects such as poles and mailboxes.

Later there will be approximately 900 trees on both of the building and also other plants including a beautiful flowers. This 2 towers of Bosco Verticale will have approximately 10,000 m2 of green area.

The project also aids in filtering air pollution contained in the urban environment. This is achieved as the the plants help produce humidity, absorb CO2 and dust particles, and produce oxygen. This will improve the quality of living for the residents, and it also creates a canopy that protects the building from radiation and noise pollution.

An irrigation and filtering system will be installed, that recycles gray water for maintenance of the plants. Photovoltaic solar cells will help contribute to the building's energy self-sufficiency.

Bosco Verticale will cost EUR65 million (US$87.5 million) and is stage one of the proposed BioMilano, which is hoped to create a green belt around the city.
